indio, or Pueblo Dance is fully described in Chapter 8 of Dancing with
the Virgin: Body and Faith in the Fiesta of Tortugas, New Mexico (University
of California Press, 2001).

the dance as described there. The first two sections use the same step
and choreographic pattern; it is the music that distinguishes between
first and second sections. Each of the sections has its own song repertory.
