Tigua

The Tigua, or indio, or Pueblo Dance is fully described in Chapter 8 of Dancing with the Virgin: Body and Faith in the Fiesta of Tortugas, New Mexico (University of California Press, 2001).

The 3 video clips on this page illustrate the 3 different sections of the dance as described there. The first two sections use the same step and choreographic pattern; it is the music that distinguishes between first and second sections. Each of the sections has its own song repertory.
